Enjoy Della Green's amazing Sauerkraut recipe.
Ingredients:
- 1 quart Green's sauerkraut
- 1 pound Green's smoked sausage
- 3 slices bacon, cut into fine pieces
- 1/2 cup onion
- 1 heaping Tablespoon flour
- 3 cups water (Della used potato water if she had cooked potatoes, but simple tap water will work)
Cook the smoked pork sausage for 15 minutes in boiling water. Let it cool. Slice it in 1 inch rounds and add it to the drained sauerkraut.
Fry the bacon and the onion in a separate pan.
Add the flour and cook it for a few minutes.
Add water and the drained sauerkraut (and sliced sausage).
Add salt and pepper to taste.
Cook until the liquid has thickened.
